13 Ahaadith Pertaining to the 10 Days of Dhul-Hijjah
Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari Radiallahu anhu narrated, ‘Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah (the 9th of the month of Dhul Hijjah). He replied, “Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year.” He was also asked about fasting on the day of Ashura (the 10th of the month of Muharram). He replied, “Fasting on the day of Ashura is an expiation for the preceding year.” Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam was also asked about fasting on Monday, and he replied, “This is the day on which I was born and the day on which I was sent (with the Message of Islam) and the day on which I received revelation.” (Muslim)

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “There are no days on which good deeds are greater or more beloved to Allah than on these ten days, so recite much Tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allah), Takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) and Tahmeed (saying Alhamdu Lillaah).” (Ahmad)
6. How did Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam slaughter?
Narrated by Anas Radiallahu anhu that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam slaughtered two rams, black and white in color (as sacrifices), and I saw him putting his foot on their sides and mentioning Allah’s Name and Takbir (Allahu Akbar). Then he slaughtered them with his own hands. (Bukhari)
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said, “The uttering of the words: “Subhan-Allah (Allah is free from imperfection), Al-hamdu lillah (all praise is due to Allah), La ilaha illallah (there is no true god except Allah) and Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest)’ is dearer to me than anything over which the sun rises.” (Muslim)
